Description: Werrong Beach is a truly hidden gem. The trek down to the beach can be a mission, but the oasis you find at the end is well worth the effort.
The track begins at the Otford Lookout car park, 150 m north of the intersection of Lady Wakehurst Drive and Fanshawe Road, and is signposted as the start of the Coast Track. Follow this track for about 300m along the cliff top. At this stage, there is no mention of Werrong Beach. After 300m, you arrive at a junction, where the Werrong Beach Track forks off to the right and is marked by a signpost.
The walk down to the beach is 1.4 km and very steep in parts, but it has a formed track the whole way down. Don’t be put off by the walk-in, as the effort is worth it! The walk is beautiful, with a range of bush surrounds, and many perfect spots to meet fellow walkers on their way back up, or pausing for a drink and letting people pass you. As the track goes only to the beach, many people feel free enough to walk naked (with proper shoes of course), or to remove clothing piece by piece, the closer to the beach you get.
Werrong itself is a very pretty, secluded beach, surrounded by sheer cliff faces on each end and extensive grass areas to relax and lie in the sun. The beach is remote enough to avoid upsetting families and to find many other like-minded people along the way.
