Description: Pleasant common, any time of day for cruising. If you're walking up Bedford Hill from Balham and you reach the railway bridge on the common (there is only one, not to be confused with the brigde in Balham next to the Bedford pub) you've gone too far. Turn back and look out for a green sign and go into woods. The woods are on your left hand side after leaving Balham; You'll pass Culverden Road on your left side as you leave the built-up area and you will reach the grassy common on both sides. Two minutes walk further up Bedford Hill, but before the railway bridge, you'll see woodland on the left and this is it. A lot of undergrowth has been cleared by the council, meaning there is very little cover until it grows back.
