Description: Privates Beach is in the Opal Cliffs area of Santa Cruz. Previously this shoreline access at Opal Cliffs Park, which is better known as Privates Beach, was locked most of the time and those who wanted access had to pay a fee to get a key (it was also known as Key Beach). In 2018 the California Coastal Commission required the gate at this beach to be opened and it is now a public beach again. This beach is mostly a local surfer's beach, but the far South or East end is a free nude beach. It is a great beach to go to when other nude beaches are fogged in.
