Description: This public property is like a sanctuary in the middle of nowhere. While it has about 46 acres total, just under 4 of them are developed for public visitation. There is a small, gravel-only parking lot (parks approximately 8 to 10 cars, 5 per side). It can get very wet during rain and storms.
There is primarily one trail, made of tar, that begins at the parking lot and goes due west. The first part of the trail is in an open area and sunshine. The remaining part of the trail looks like a "tunnel" and is mostly covered by trees above. The trail is about 1/4 mile long and goes all the way back to a point where there is an overlook deck. The trail then becomes gravel and grass only, and continues farther west for about another 1/4 mile, more or less ending by an open field and thick bushes. There is some signage along the trail depicting information about the trail and its history. Mosquitoes and bees can be present. Also, beware of blackberry trees, as the berries fall and leave a mess that can stain footwear.
There is a secondary trail that crosses the main trail (but is very short/small). It intersects the main trail after the old train station signage, not far from the parking lot, where the forest first begins to cover the trail. If you go left, it's a very short trail behind private property. If you go right, the trail extends a bit farther to a dead end by the cornfield, also behind private property. There are no restroom facilities at this location. Briefly, maybe a few years ago in summer, there were two outhouses situated on the left of the trail start, right by the parking lot.
There has been no return of them since.
