Description: Park and Ride, a Commuter Parking Lot Area BUT the original cruising spot on Long Island Suffolk County. Conveniently located at the intersection of the Long Island Express Way (RT 495) and Commack Road @ Exit 52. Located on the edge of Dix Hills, Commack and Brentwood. The parking lot is on the South, East Corner of Commack Road and LIE Service Road South. The back end of the parking lot has cut open holes in the fences that lead to trails. Guys on their way to work and on their way home stop in for a fast hook up. Be respectful of the people parking and getting rides. Stay in the back of lot and in the woods.
This is the original and was the largest cruising area on the East Coast. It became a cruising area shortly after it opened as a park-and-ride. When the fence was cut in the early 1980’s it became the most active cruising area, with no less than 50 - 100 cruisers visiting. Daily 24/7. Back then, when you drove through, you could barely find a place to park. There would be groups of guys hanging out BSing all over the lot. There was a barbecue in the back corner where groups would cook. Once the fence was opened, the woods made it the most talked-about cruising place. The 800 acres of woods had fire roads, and some cruisers drove in and camped throughout the woods for the day. There was a guy who used to cut paths and maintain the paths every year. Many guys roamed the woods naked, and it was not uncommon to see guys hanging out in the parking lot nude. That was then. Today, the place feels like an abandoned remnant of nothing. There are about 10 - 20 visitors a day, and most are the same regular cruisers still hanging on, hoping to find what they are looking for.
